Purelements: An Evolution in Dance is a performing arts organization that fuses modern, hip hop, jazz, ballet, and African dance with voice, spoken word, and musical theater. It aims to educate artists and audiences on social issues and enhance their artistic development and performance experiences. Purelements’ goals are “to empower people to live healthy, creative and balanced lifestyles; to increase self-awareness, cultural appreciation, and to break down barriers of social ignorance by bridging gaps between diverse communities through arts education and programming.”
Purelements main programs are Artistic Influences=Revitalizing Education (AIRE) and Center of Artistic Refinement (COAR). AIRE provides in-school dance programs to hundreds of Brooklyn public middle-school children that enhance literacy and promote community involvement. COAR is a dance studio located in East New York that offers high quality dance, vocal, and theater arts training to novice and pre-professional neighborhood residents, ages 3 to 26 years old.
