MinKwon Center for Community Action (MinKwon) believes that social justice is deeply rooted in grassroots community work and emphasizes collaboration as critical to lasting fundamental change. Located in Flushing, Queens, MinKwon’s goals are to educate the community on issues impacting marginalized communities, build an informed, active membership of Korean and Asian Americans advocating around their concerns, deliver legal and social services to low-income community members, increase voter empowerment among immigrants and Asian Americans, educate and engage youth, and preserve cultural roots through projects that promote ethnic and cultural heritage.
MinKwon seeks to expand resources and opportunities for immigrants and marginalized community members. The Immigrant Rights Legal Clinic serves thousands of community members annually. The Community Organizing and grassroots campaigns provide policy education, organizing, and advocacy on issues of immigrant rights, budget fairness, and civic participation. The Youth Empowerment Project builds leadership among Asian American high school students.
